Makassar, February 22, 2024 – Built 3.2 kilometers long, the Makassar New Port (MNP) Toll Access Road was inaugurated directly by the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo during his working visit to South Sulawesi on February 22, 2024. Also present were the Minister of Public Works and Public Housing, Basuki Hadimuljono, Minister of Transportation, Budi Karya Sumadi, Minister of State-Owned Enterprises, Erick Thohir, and Ramdani Basri, President Director of PT Nusantara Infrastructure Tbk which is the parent company of the operator and manager of the Makassar Toll Road who also accompanied the president in inaugurating the Makassar New Port Toll Access Road, a driver of economic growth and connectivity in Eastern Indonesia.

Ramdani Basri, President Director of PT Nusantara Infrastructure Tbk said, "This is the first stage of development with an investment value of IDR 705 billion which connects the existing toll road to MNP. In the future, the plan will proceed to the next stage to connect in the opposite direction."

The construction of the Makassar New Port Toll Access Road project was entirely sourced from private funds without using the APBN budget. This toll road has been functional since January 2, 2024 which is the main support for MNP Port activities as one of the government's national strategic projects to improve the community's economy, facilitate logistics distribution and export and import routes by providing direct access to and from Makassar New Port and the toll road existing. Thus, the existence of this toll road can reduce travel time and logistics costs for distributing goods and services between regions.

Ramdani added, "Not only is it able to encourage economic improvement in the region by reducing goods distribution and logistics times, this project also provides employment opportunities by absorbing thousands of local workers who are directly involved in building projects that apply this cutting-edge technology."

In the construction process, this toll road implemented a number of advanced technologies using span by span Box Girder which was able to shorten work time. Not only that, this project also applies Building Information Modeling (BIM) which provides significant benefits in planning, managing, and maintaining infrastructure to increase efficiency and accuracy in all stages of the project, and uses 100% domestic materials.

Thus, the existence of the Makassar New Port Toll Access Road is proof of the implementation of modern, efficient, and quality infrastructure project development to improve connectivity, as well as being a supporting route for the distribution of goods and logistics in the Eastern Region of Indonesia.
